Changing the North Direction

You can easily change which direction is North by rotating the compass. The compass direction is used during a realtime walkthrough to calculate shadows based on the position of the sun. It also determines the North direction when adding a lot boundary using survey bearings.

To change the compass direction:

1.   Click the Rotate tool.

2.   Select the compass by clicking it.

3.   Left click and drag in a circular motion to rotate the compass.

When rotating the compass in the perspective view, you can see the sky rotate at the same time.

Note: You may need to zoom out in order to see the compass. To do this, first select the Plan view and then use the Zoom tool to zoom out until the compass is visible.
