Plant Options and Plant Information

Description |

Plant |
Plant model or picture. Click to select a different
plant. |
|
Plant options |
When a plant model is selected, click the options
button to edit the plant's materials. When a plant picture is selected,
click the options button to edit the color and brightness.
You will also have the option of editing the
picture using the Realtime Picture
Editor. |

Elevation |
Height of the plant off the ground. Use this
to raise or lower the plant off the ground. To lower the plant into the
ground, you can manually enter a negative elevation. |
|
Flip horizontal |
Mirrors the plant in the horizontal direction. This
option is only available for plant pictures, not models. |
|
Flip vertical |
Mirrors the plant in the vertical direction. This
option is only available for plant pictures, not models. |
|
Rotate to face viewer |
When a plant picture is selected, this causes the
plant to automatically rotate to face you while in perspective and
realtime walkthrough views. |
|
Ignore growth limits |
Check this option if you want to make the plant
larger than it normally would be. Uncheck this option to restrict the size
of the plant based on its mature height. |
|
(names) |
The plant's common name appears on the first line.
The botanical name appears on the second line in italics. |
|
Starting age |
Starting age of the plant, in years. This is the
age of the plant excluding any time added by the Plant Growth
setting. |
|
Plant growth |
The current Plant
Growth setting. |
|
Current age |
The current age of the plant, in years. This is the
sum of the starting age and any time added by the current Plant Growth
setting. |
|
Mature age |
This is the age at which the plant reaches its
mature height. |
|
Current height |
The plant's current height. |
|
Mature height |
The plant's approximate mature height. |
|
Planting zones |
The hardiness zones where the plant is most likely
to grow. Click Tools > Plant Hardiness Zones to display the zone
maps.
Note: Hardiness zones do not apply to
annuals. In this case, the planting zones will display "all". |

Key |
A short abbreviation of the plant's name. The key
can be changed as desired. |
|
Size |
A description of the plant's size when planted.
This is usually the container size. Click to select a predefined size or
enter a custom one. |
Symbol Properties

Description |

Use default symbol |
Check this option to use the default symbol for a
plant. For plant pictures, this is a green symbol. For plant models, this
is a top-down rendering of the plant.
Uncheck this option if you would like to choose a
different symbol for the plant. |

Symbol |
Click to change the plant symbol.
Note: You must first uncheck Use default
symbol before you can change the plant symbol. |
|
Symbol options |
Click to edit the symbol's color and
brightness. |
|
Scale |
Scales the symbol relative to the size of the
plant. Set to 50 for a symbol that is one-half of the plant size, 200 for
twice the plant size, or 100 for a symbol that is the same size as the
plant. |

Transparency |
Adjusts the transparency of the symbol in the plan
view. |
