Adding a Rock

Rocks are an important element of many landscape designs.
Uses include borders, spillways, and accents to name a few. In Realtime
Landscaping Pro, you have full control over the size, shape, rotation, and
placement of each rock.
To add a rock:
1. Click Add
Rock.
2. Select the desired
rock by clicking on the picture in the property window.
3. Select the desired
material by clicking on the picture in the property window.
4. Click to place the
rock. Hold Ctrl while you click to add more than one.

Rotating and Scaling Rocks
You can rotate and scale rocks for more variety. For
example, the following shows the same rock model at different sizes and rotation
angles:

Using Rocks with Waterfalls
If you place a rock underneath a waterfall, then the water
will flow over it during a realtime walkthrough. If the rock is too large,
however, then it will obstruct the flow of water. The following is an example of
a large rock being used as a spillway:

Tips:
• The
Rock Border object automatically strings
together rocks and is great for adding borders.
• Rocks
come in various shapes and sizes. When you select a different rock model, the
size will be changed relative to the new model. Therefore, it's best to select
the desired rock before changing its size.
•
Adding too many rocks to your landscape can increase memory usage and
reduce performance. For areas that typically require a large quantity of rocks,
such as regions, paths, ponds, and streams, the rocks are part of the object's
material instead of separate objects. This helps to keep the rendering fast and
makes the landscape easier to work with.
