Using Rulers
For more precise measurements, you can enable rulers in the
top-down view. These make it easier to move and size objects relative to a
particular point on the landscape design, called the origin. As you move
the cursor in the view, the rulers will show you the distance to the origin in
each direction. When you move an object, the rulers will draw a shaded area that
shows how far you have moved in each direction.

To turn rulers on or off: Click Settings > Rulers > Show Rulers.
Or, press Ctrl+R.
To set the ruler origin:
1. Click Settings
> Rulers > Set Ruler Origin. Or, click the origin symbol in the
top-left corner of the rulers (shown above) and select Set Ruler Origin
from the drop-down menu.
2. Move the crosshairs
to the desired position and click to set the origin. Press Esc if you
wish to cancel.
To reset the ruler origin to the top-left of the
landscape: click Settings > Rulers > Reset Ruler Origin. Or,
click the origin symbol in the top-left corner of the rulers (shown above) and
select Reset Ruler Origin from the drop-down
menu.
