Overview
This tutorial will walk you through the fundamentals of house lighting design in Realtime Landscaping Pro.
Loading a sample landscape
The first step in this tutorial is to load a sample landscape that does not already have house lighting. To achieve this, load “sample2” by clicking “open sample” within the “file” menu. This sample landscape includes a very modest house with some water features and a deck. The landscape has no lighting included, and will be ideal for our needs.
Switching to perspective view
For placing house lights, it is very important to have a clear view of the house wall on which you will place the lights. To accomplish this, switch to perspective view by clicking the “perspective” button that is found at the bottom of the screen. When you are in the perspective mode, pan your view to the front door of the house.

Placing front door lighting
Now we must select and place two house lights near the front door of the house. To obtain a suitable light for this house, select “house light6” by clicking the “house light” button that is under the “building” tab. Once the light is selected, place one light on both sides of the front door. These lights will illuminate the entry area around the door at night and will add aesthetic value.
Placing garage door lighting
The next step in our house lighting design is to add lights to the garage area. To do this, select the house light in the same way you did in the previous step and place one light on either side of the garage door. Garage door lighting is a necessity for nearly any house and has the advantage of illuminating a large area of the house with only two lights.

Placing rear door lighting
The last lights that need placed are near the rear door of the house. Place one house light on both sides of the rear glass door. Placing these lights will illuminate the deck and part of the back yard in the night. These house lights will also add some decoration to an otherwise ordinary door.
Adjusting house elevation
While the lights are properly oriented laterally, it would be to our benefit to raise them slightly higher. To select all of the lights, click on them individually while holding the “shift” key. Once all of the house lights are selected, adjust their elevation to 6 feet 6 inches (1.98m) by modifying the “elevation” bar that is found to the right of the screen. Once this is done, the lights will be situated at a more appealing elevation.
