Pool Stairs Properties

The properties used to modify a Pool Stairs object are located to the right of the screen when your pool stairs are selected. These properties can either be adjusted right before adding the pool stairs to your landscape or after they have been added. Below is a description of each available property in the order that they appear in the software.

Finish Material

Description

Use same material as pool

The Use same material as pool property determines whether the stair finish will use the primary pool material or a different material specified by you. To enable selection of a separate stair material, click the Use same material as pool checkbox.

Material

The Material property determines what type of surface the pool stairs will use. To change the material, click the small image that displays the current material.

Material options

The appearance of the stairs can be modified by clicking the small button that appears to the right of the material image.

Size

The Size property determines the scale of the stair material.

Angle

The Angle property determines the rotation angle of the stair material.  To change the material angle, move the Angle slider or type a value in the text field.

Offset X

The Offset X property determines the stair material’s left and right orientation. To shift the material left or right, move the Offset X slider or enter a value in the text field.

Offset Y

The Offset Y property determines the stair material’s forward and backward orientation. To shift the material forward or backward, move the Offset Y slider or enter a value in the text field.

Shininess

The Shininess property determines how glossy the material will appear. To change the appearance of the material, click the Shininess drop-down menu and select from the following options: Default, Off, Low, Medium, or High. The shininess property only affects the appearance of the material while in the 3D view.

Enable enhanced surface detail

The Enable enhanced surface detail property determines whether or not the stair will have increased detail when viewed up close.

 

Options

Description

Step rise

The Step rise property determines the height of each step. To change the rise, move the Step rise slider or enter a value in the text field.

Step run

The Step run property determines the length of each step. To change the run, move the Step run slider or enter a value in the text field.

Depth

The Depth property determines the distance from the top step to the top of the swimming pool or spa. To change the depth, move the Depth slider or type a value in the text field.

Number of steps

The Number of steps property determines the amount of steps created. To change the amount of steps, move the Number of steps slider or enter a value in the text field.

Edit points

Click the Edit points button to enable or disable point editing mode, which will allow you to modify the pool stair’s shape. See Editing Points for details.

Shape options

Click the Shape Options button to save the shape of the pool stairs, or to load an existing shape. For more details, see Saving and Loading Shapes.

 

Nosing

Description

Add nosing tile

The Add nosing tile property determines whether a separate material is added to the edge of each stair step. To toggle the appearance of the nosing, click the Add nosing tile checkbox.

Material

The Material property determines what type of surface the pool stair nosing will use. To change the material, click the small image that displays the current material.

Material options

The appearance of the pool stair nosing can be modified by clicking the small button that appears to the right of the material image.

Angle

The Angle property determines the rotation angle of the nosing material.  To change the material angle, move the Angle slider or type a value in the text field.

Offset X

The Offset X property determines the nosing material’s left and right orientation. To shift the material left or right, move the Offset X slider or enter a value in the text field.

The Offset Y property determines the nosing material’s forward and backward orientation. To shift the material forward or backward, move the Offset Y slider or enter a value in the text field.

The Tile size property determines the size of each tile.

The Add tile property determines whether a strip of tile is added to the top of the pool stair sides. To toggle the appearance of the tile, click the Add tile checkbox.

Material

The Material property determines what type of tile is added to the pool stairs. To change the material, click the small image that displays the current material.

The appearance of the pool stair tile can be modified by clicking the small button that appears to the right of the material image.

Size

The Size property determines the scale of the tile material.

The Angle property determines the rotation angle of the tile material.  To change the material angle, move the Angle slider or type a value in the text field.

The Offset X property determines the tile material’s left and right orientation. To shift the material left or right, move the Offset X slider or enter a value in the text field.

The Offset Y property determines the tile material’s forward and backward orientation. To shift the material forward or backward, move the Offset Y slider or enter a value in the text field.
